Pokemon Go 800 Million Downloads Alolan Exeggutor

Pokemon Go Has Reached 800 Million Downloads

The Pokemon Company CEO and President, Tsunekazu Ishihara, has announced that Pokemon Go has reached an incredible new milestone. The mobile AR (Augmented Reality) game has reached over a whopping 800 million downloads worldwide. It might not be as popular as when it initially launched in 2016, but this achievement means that the game’s player base continues to grow.

Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki revealed the information in a tweet earlier today. This is a surprising revelation as the game reportedly reached 650 million downloads back in March 2018, which was only two months ago. Pokemon Go looks to be thriving thanks to the efforts of Niantic and The Pokemon Company, with constant updates and events.

Pokemon Go 800 Million Downloads: Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee

In other Pokemon-related news, we reported that Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee were announced at a Tokyo press conference yesterday. Both games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 16th, 2018. What’s interesting is that both games will feature gameplay inspired by Pokemon Go, as players will be using the Switch or the new Pokeball Plus peripheral to capture Pokemon.

In light of all this, Niantic took the opportunity to announce that players will be able to transfer Pokemon from the Kanto region caught in Pokemon Go to the upcoming Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. The developer has also confirmed the first Alolan Pokemon to become available in Pokemon Go will be the Alolan Exeggutor. It will appear more often for a limited time.

With Pokemon Go Fest 2018 looming on the horizon, Niantic is sure to ramp up the hype surrounding the game as the event inches closer. After the disaster that was the Pokemon Go Fest in 2017, the company will have to make sure that this year’s events in Germany and the US are exactly as they’ve been described: “a unique and immersive gameplay experience not seen in any of Niantic’s previous live events.”
