Final Fantasy 7 Remake | The Stagger Effect Battle Intel quests

There’s a lot of confusion about how to complete the Stagger Effect Battle Intel quests in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Much of the trouble stems from the quest description for The Stagger Effect Part 1, which is particularly obtuse. Fortunately, each of the Stagger Effect challenges are very simple once you understand what the game is asking you to do. This guide will walk you through how to complete The Stagger Effect Pt. 1, Pt. 2, and Pt. 3 in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

How to complete The Stagger Effect Part 1

The Stagger Effect Pt. 1 in Final Fantasy 7 Remake requires you to charge your ATB meter using Unique abilities on staggered enemies. To complete it, you need to stagger an enemy, then use a Unique ability (attacks mapped to Triangle) to charge the ATB meter ten separate times.

A lot of the confusion over The Stagger Effect Pt. 1 is focused around the in-game description. It reads: “Use unique abilities on staggered enemies and charge the ATB gauge 10 times.” The problem is that this description seems to have two different requisites: Use unique abilities and charge the ATB meter. The first part is especially confusing, since it seems to imply you need to use separate and distinct abilities on staggered enemies. This is not the case.

Unique abilities are those mapped to Triangle. Cloud’s attacks in Punisher mode are unique, as are Barret’s Overcharge and Tifa’s Whirlwind Uppercut. They are not the standard Abilities which consume ATB meter charges.

With this in mind, you can complete this Battle Intel mission relatively easily by fighting the Fat Chocobo in Chadley’s VR summon battle. Stagger the big boy, then unleash as many Triangle attacks as you can. The catch is that you need these attacks to charge your ATB meter. If your ATB bar is full, empty it by using normal Abilities — the ones that deplete the ATB meter. Otherwise, the attacks won’t count toward the Battle Intel progress.

How to complete The Stagger Effect Part 2

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Stagger Effect Pt. 2 Battle Intel quest is very simple. All you need to do is stagger 15 different types of enemies. If you’ve been smart throughout your battles, chances are good you’ll have completed this Battle Intel before you’re even given the quest.

If you’re having trouble with The Stagger Effect Pt. 2, it’s best to use the Assess materia in order to discover enemy weaknesses. Every enemy has different stagger requirements, but almost all of them can be exploited with the right abilities. Tifa is particularly useful in this regard, as her basic attacks tend to quickly increase the Stagger gauge of many enemies.

Patience and persistence will be key, but if you still can’t stagger enemies, don’t fret. You’ll probably wind up inadvertently staggering 15 different enemies throughout the course of the game.

How to complete The Stagger Effect Part 3

The Stagger Effect Pt. 3 is the last of the stagger-related Battle Intel quests in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It requires you to increase the stagger damage bonus to 200 percent. As luck would have it, it’s very easy to complete Pt. 3 by once again fighting the Fat Chocobo in Chadley’s VR simulation.

A lot of players seem to get hung up on The Stagger Effect Pt. 3 since they haven’t seen the Stagger meter move beyond the default 160 percent. Only a select number of abilities are able to increase the stagger damage bonus, and they must be used after an enemy is already staggered.

Fortunately, you can complete The Stagger Effect Pt. 3 and earn the Staggering Feat trophy in a matter of minutes. Visit Chadley and drop into battle with the Fat Chocobo. Before it’s been staggered, make sure to use Tifa’s Unbridled Strength ability as many times as you can to bolster her unique attacks.

Once staggered, use Tifa to unleash a barrage of Triangle-based attacks. The Fat Chocobo’s Stagger damage bonus will begin to skyrocket, as will the damage done by each of your attacks. This is also a good time to use other named abilities that increase the gauge, including Cloud’s Focused Thrust or Barret’s Focused Strike. With that said, we were able to increase the Stagger meter beyond 300% just by repeating Tifa’s Unbridled Strength ability and spamming the Triangle button.
