Borderlands 3
Bordering on perfect
One of the best and most addicting games you can play is Borderlands 3. In this edition, you’re a Vault Hunter on a mission to stop the main bad guys – the Calapyso twins – from becoming the most powerful villains in the galaxy. To do it, you will need to kill a bunch of enemies, collect loot, and complete side quests. It’s an incredibly fun, fast, chaotic thrill ride through the Borderlands galaxy. Awesome weapons will get you through well-written quests, which have good stories and a lot of good humor in them too. Some people didn’t like the graphics style of Borderlands 2, but they have really upgraded the graphics for Borderlands 3. The soundtrack rocks as well. Really, everything about this game rocks.
Pros
- Fun, fast, chaotic gameplay
- Beautiful graphics
Cons
- Load time is kind of slow
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
The long-running series Call of Duty returns to form with Modern Warfare. The graphics are stunning – everything moves in a very realistic fashion. People blend into the environment better than in previous versions, which is more real and makes it easier for you to hide. Of course, it also makes it easier for your enemies to hide, so watch out for that. The gameplay is also more realistic than it has been in recent versions, with weapons and people mimicking real warfare, as opposed to Matrix-style action. Modern Warfare is gritty, fun, and challenging. It’s the best Call of Duty in many years.
Pros
- Stunning graphics
- Realistic action
Cons
- Takes a few games to get the controls down
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
Army of one
You’re a Special Ops soldier stranded behind enemy lines. You’re outmanned and outgunned. No one is coming to rescue you. Good luck. For gamers who like to get immersed in a story – as opposed to just blasting away – this is the game for you. It’s a rich, captivating story and world, one you will get lost in for hours at a time. Character movements are almost too realistic, in that they are imperfect, like actual humans. The gameplay is great, with fun and accurate fighting and shooting. One cool feature is you can throw dirt, mud, or snow over yourself to hide from enemies. Great storytelling, graphics, and gameplay. This one is worth playing.
Pros
- Immersive world
- Captivating story
Cons
- Navigating the menu is slow
Bioshock: The Collection
Better than ever
This is not just a re-release pack of old games. The games are completely remastered in gorgeous 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. If you’ve played any of these games before, you will definitely notice the difference in the details on every level. This collection contains all three Bioshock games and all the DLC packs for each of them. If you’re new to Bioshock, prepare to enter an atmosphere that is unsettling and creepy, in a fun way. It’s one of the signature elements of Bioshock. The level design is absolutely amazing. Every place you go is huge, with so much to do and find, and enemies to fight. The mind-bending story will have you guessing to the final twist. All three games are spectacular, and this remastered collection is a must-play.
Pros
- Remastered in 1080p
- Three classic games plus all DLC packs
Cons
- Might give you nightmares
Resident Evil 2
Zombie killing is on the menu
Remakes often fail to live up to the original, but that is not the case here. This remake of the zombie-killing classic stays true to the original yet improves on it in every way. The graphics are obviously way better, but so are the story and the gameplay. There are some surprising twists that players of the original will not see coming, and all of the jump scares have been moved to surprise you. The game has three difficulty settings: Assisted, Standard, and Hardcore. Hardcore is quite hard since the zombies are super strong and you don’t have auto-aim. Whether you’re a fan of the original or new to the franchise, you won’t want to miss this one.
Pros
- Three difficulty levels
- Photorealistic 4K graphics
Cons
- The game is not super long
