Is Nuketown in Black Ops 4?

Black Ops 4 Nuketown Island: Is Nuketown in Black Ops 4?

Now that the Black Ops series is back with Call of Duty Black Ops 4, fans have understandably been asking the same question; “Is Nuketown in Black Ops 4?”. The answer to that is “yes”, but it’s not quite how you remember it.

The arrival of Nuketown was a high-point for the shooter franchise when it appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops back in 2010. Since then, it’s become a fan-favorite map frequently being added to some of the game’s yearly sequels. Emphasis on the “some” here as a number of more recent Call of Duty games have shipped without the popular map.

Black Ops 4 Nuketown Island: Is Nuketown in Black Ops 4?

Fans will remember that Nuketown gained its name not because of a fate that had already befallen it, but because of what would happen to the idyllic town at the end of each match.

Heading back to the question of “Is Nuketown in Black Ops 4?”. It is, but it’s sporting a different look for a bigger purpose.

Revealed by GameInformer, Nuketown in Black Ops 4 essentially shows the aftermath of the map. The nuke seen at the end of a match in the original Black Ops wasn’t dropped directly on the Nuketown itself, but the blast certainly hit home, smashing windows, burning buses, and blowing down fences. Nuketown is now Nuketown Island and sits by the sea as part of a much wider map designed for a Battle Royale situation.

Like other popular Battle Royale game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will feature the “Blackout” game mode built upon the same Battle Royale foundation seen in games like Fortnite and PUBG. The map will be split into named sections, with Nuketown Island being one of them. Even the pesky mannequins are still present in the houses, meaning you’re bound to freak out and give away your position by firing a round into an inanimate object.
