Is Fortnite Save the World shutting down in 2020?

Fortnite developer Epic Games has released a state of development update on Save the World, revealing that the experience has now left Early Access. While that might sound promising, development on the premium experience (it isn’t going free-to-play) will also “slow down after this official release.” So, while Fortnite Save the World is not shutting down in 2020 players should expect updates to become less frequent effective immediately.

As a sort of olive branch, Epic is upgrading Founder’s Pack owners to the next tier up. If you’re an Ultimate Edition owner with nowhere higher to go, your account will be granted the new Metal Team Leader Pack and 8,000 V-Bucks.

Save the World isn’t entirely done with content updates yet, however. Ventures are long-term goals that span a season and impact game difficulty, the weapons you find, and what rewards you earn. The seasonal event structure is also set to change, entering a rotation that’s separate to Battle Royale. Finally, there’ll be all-new Save the World packs; featured cosmetics will also transfer to Battle Royale.
