It’s been almost three years since the last season premiered on Netflix, and it seemed like we’d never hear a Stranger Things Season 4 release date. However, we’re getting there slowly but surely. Here’s what time we can expect Stranger Things 4 to release and how to watch it when it does.
What is the Stranger Things Season 4 release date and time?
Stranger Things Season 4 will premiere in 2022. The season would likely have been released last year, but the COVID-19 epidemic caused a halt to filming for an extended period of time.
Stranger Things 4 has been in development since before the third season’s debut in 2019. Production began in February 2020, but work was halted due to the pandemic after two weeks of filming. Filming started again in September 2020 and was finally completed a year later, in September 2021.
The entire primary cast will be returning in Stranger Things Season 4. Part of the story will focus on Hopper, who is now imprisoned in Kamchatka, Russia. Back in the United States, the gang will have to contend with a new horror that is more dangerous than anything they’ve encountered before. A year has passed in-universe since the previous season, so we could see some significant differences in character relationships.
Other than the basic info, we’re unsure what will happen in season four. Series creators, The Duffer Brothers, have stated that they envision Stranger Things ending with season four or five. So, this might be the conclusion of the story. However, we’d bet that this is just the setup to the finale, and we’ll see it last at least one more season.

Stranger Things Season 4 is a Netflix exclusive. This original series won’t be available on any other streaming service. Thankfully, Netflix is one of the more widely available streaming services, so most fans will get a chance to see it.
Alternatively, Netflix did release previous seasons of Stranger Things on Blu-ray. So, we can likely anticipate a physical release for the latest season as well.
