When players first saw the game, it seemed obvious that there would be Rollerdrome multiplayer. After all, the blend of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater movement and Max Payne shooting looks ripe for some awesome PVP or PVE modes. We’ll look at whether Roll7 has integrated any multiplayer modes in the game below.
Is Rollerdrome multiplayer?
Rollerdrome doesn’t feature any multiplayer modes. There are no competitive or co-op features, which means you can’t participate in PVE or PVP. There are online leaderboards, but that’s the only interaction you can have with other players.
It’s unfortunate that Rollerdrome doesn’t have multiplayer since it seems like a game that’d be perfect for it. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, which this title takes a lot of ques from, has some great multiplayer modes. Since it looks like that series is dead for now, since Vicarious Visions (now Blizzard Albany) has been turned into a support studio, it’d have been great for Rollerdrome to fill that void with a unique take on the formula.
Luckily, Roll7 hasn’t ruled out bringing multiplayer to Rollerdrome. Hopefully, if the game does well, we’ll see new modes added in future updates. We could easily see this game introduce its own takes on modes like Graffiti, Trick Attack, Tag, and HORSE. However, at this point, we’d be happy with a simple Free Skate option. For now, though, it doesn’t seem like there are any plans to add the feature to the game.
Fortunately, the single-player is good enough to make up for the lack of multiplayer. The unique gameplay gets our blood pumping, and we keep coming back for more. We can only imagine how fun it would be to add co-op to the mix or if Roll7 expanded it into a full multiplayer experience.
You can try Rollerdrome for yourself right now on PX, PS4, and PS5.
