There are four safe codes in The Last of Us Part 1. These combos unlock safes that contain some valuable (but non-essential items). Sometimes the codes and the safes are relatively near one another, but others are a bit trickier. Here’s where you can find each safe and lock combination.
The Last of Us Part 1 Safe Combo list
Here’s every safe code in The Last of Us Part 1:
- Chapter 3 – The Outskirts: 3-43-78
- Chapter 4 – Bill’s Town: 5-43-78
- Chapter 5 – Pittsburgh: 22-10-56
- Chapter 6 – The Suburbs: 8-21-36
Unfortunately, just knowing the combination isn’t enough. Each safe requires you to seek out and find the code in an artifact before you can unlock it.
Safe Location 1: Chapter 3 – The Outskirts
You’ll find the first safe right after you acquire the Molotov Cocktail recipe. It’s sitting in a bookstore in the subway.
Code Location: Note to Derek
You can find this note in a store near the safe in a drawer under a cash register.
It reads:
“Derek at the bookstore is letting us use his safe. When you close tonight, put my stuff in there.
3-43-78″
Safe Location 2: Chapter 4 – Bill’s Town
This safe is sitting near a truck on main street where Anthony’s Pizza and Subs is located.
Code Location: Note to Bob
At the end of the street is a barrier. The note can be found in some barbed wire.
The text reads:
“Bob, I’m not leaving town without that safe, help
Brad load it into the pickup. And in case you
need to get in, the combination is 5-17-21″
Safe Location 3: Chapter 5 – Pittsburgh
When you enter the Hotel Grand, look behind the guest counter in the lobby to find this safe.
Code Location: Note to Staff
Use the ladder to make it to the second floor of the lobby. Once there, head right and go upstairs. Near the elevators, you should find this note.
The note says:
“The combination for the security safe for hotel guests’ valuables has changed. The new combination is 22-10-56.”
Safe Location 4: Chapter 6 – The Suburbs
After exiting the sewers, you’ll find yourself in a neighborhood. You’ll find a house you can explore located near the ice cream truck. On the second floor, there’s a safe in the bedroom.
Code Location: Matchbook
On the third floor, you can find a matchbook with the combination on a desk. It contains no note aside from the code itself.
