Jade Empire: Special Edition is now free through Origin's On the House promotion, replacing Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 before it.
This BioWare classic from 2005, with the Special Edition released on PC in 2007, follows the traditional kung-fu storyline of an orphan who becomes a martial-arts master and must save his Master. The game follows some of the same designs as Mass Effect, which came after Jade Empire in 2007.
The Special Edition includes a 1920×1200 widescreen resolution, new monsters and textures, a higher "Jade Master" difficulty level, and a bonus art book. GameRevolution awarded Jade Empire a B+ (back when we gave letter grades!).
