X-COM: Enemy Unknown Gets First DLC Packs

Firaxis is thrilled with the high critical reviews, ours included, for X-COM: Enemy Unknown and has announced today their plan for the first few DLC add-ons for the title.

The Slingshot Content Pack is more than the name implies: It features a set of Council missions that involve a Triad operative who has some interest in thwarting the aliens hovering over China. Well, we're not sure exactly if this enigmatic character wants to help them or kill them, considering the possibility of alien control, but I'm willing to guess that even as a gang member, he wants them out of his city. Enemies of our enemies are our friends, after all.

There's no announcement yet on the pack's price or release date, but it will include three new maps and one playable character "with a unique story and voice", who may be the aforementioned Triad operative.

The second add-on content is the Elite Soldier Pack, which those who pre-ordered the title or purchased the title at launch already received for free. It gives players the classic X-COM soldier in their barracks, Soldier Deco upgrades for their soldiers, and complete color customization. This pack is now available for $4.99 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
