Microsoft Touts Success Of Halo Series, Sold 46 Million Games To Date

Today Microsoft has revealed that—to no one's surprise—the Halo franchise has sold a whole lot of games—a whopping 46 million to be precise. It really is no wonder Microsoft has spent more on the development of Halo 4 than any other game to date. After all, the series itself has managed to rake in a staggering $3 billion in revenue.

To date, Halo 3 has amassed a good 120 million pieces of user-generated content, and a total of 5 billion hours of Halo has been played online over the years. That's a whole lot of time logged into Xbox Live.

We're now just days away from Halo 4's big launch and gamers everywhere are eagerly awaiting to see how 343i's first foray into the universe fares. If you check back here on GR at midnight tonight, you'll get to see our final verdict on the Master Chief's triumphant return.

Halo 4 launches on November 6th. Get excited.
