Resident Evil 4 HD Project Download Now Available

Resident Evil 4 has been released on nearly every single system since its release on the PS2. Capcom brought the game to PS3 and Xbox 360 and updated the visuals so it looked HD. Now a group of dedicated modders has given the game a fresh coat of paint thanks to the Resident Evil 4 HD Project.

Resident Evil 4 HD Project is being worked on by not only a group of modders, but also RE fans. Project lead Albert has visited the exact locations Capcom did to gather new images for the textures. The end result is impressive, as the HD Project has high-resolution character models for cutscenes, high-quality textures, fresh looking menus and an all-new real-time lighting system. All of these upgrades look to improve not only the visual quality of the game, but also its atmosphere.

The Island section of Resident Evil 4 HD Project is available to download now but there’s also a few other things that people can try out. “Separate Ways” and “Assignment Ada” will also be included as well as every stage for Mercenary mode. People who are interested in trying out Resident Evil 4 HD Project themselves can click here.

The trailer that the modders have released gives a bit more information on what to expect. Item models and textures will be improved, as will inventory and in-game weapon models, barrel and tank explosions, and many lighting errors.

Resident Evil 4 was released in 2005 for PS2 and Gamecube. The game is seen by many as one of the best entries in the series and it’s often credited by fans for reviving the beloved survival horror franchise. The game brought in a new camera perspective that the mainline entries have stuck with until Resident Evil 7.

Since its original release, Resident Evil 4 has been released on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS4, Xbox One and even on mobile. The game has yet to release on the Nintendo Switch, but given the track record, we believe that it will be put onto the system sometime in the future.
