Wolfenstein Youngblood News – Release Date, Trailer, Split-Screen Multiplayer, Co-Op, Everything We Know

Wolfenstein Youngblood is an upcoming co-op first-person shooter from Bethesda. Announced at E3 2018, the game follows the daughters of B.J. Blazkowicz as they search for their missing father in 1980s Vichy France. Below you can check out the Wolfenstein Youngblood release date, platforms, trailers, and gameplay info we’ve collected so far.

Wolfenstein Youngblood Release Date

Wolfenstein: Youngblood will be the first co-operative game in the series when it releases in 2019. Bethesda has given no more information regarding the release date of Youngblood since the game’s reveal at E3 2018. But given that Pete Hines, senior vice president of marketing and communication at Bethesda Softworks, confirmed that there would be more Wolfenstein after this game releases, it should be expected sooner rather than later.

Wolfenstein Youngblood Switch

Wolfenstein: Youngblood has not been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch yet. Panic Button, a studio that has worked extensively on porting titles to the hybrid system, have mentioned that they are “open” to developing a version of Youngblood for Switch.

It is possible that Machinegames is handling a Switch port in-house, although they have not confirmed if a Switch port is coming. Panic Button has brought Doom (2016), Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and Warframe to the console. The studio is currently working with id Software on a day-and-date Switch version of Doom Eternal.

Wolfenstein Youngblood Trailer

Wolfenstein: Youngblood was revealed with a trailer during E3 2018 at Bethesda’s press conference. The trailer was narrated by series protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz, while short cinematic clips were shown. The Blazkowicz twins are shown hunting and preparing to fight, while the city of Paris is coated in red during “Oktoberfest 1980 in Paris”. Nazi soldiers are shown goose-stepping through the streets as Blazkowicz says, “to survive you have to embrace the suffering. To stand up and carry it. It’s not about the pain you can deal with, it’s about how much you can take.”

We then see the Jess and Soph Blazkowicz standing on a rooftop, looking out at Paris. The two seem to be in Da’at Yichud Power Suits, powerful suits of armor that were also seen in The New Order and The New Colossus.

Wolfenstein Youngblood Gameplay

The Blazkowicz Twins will be taking to 1980s Paris to continue the fight against the Third Reich in Wolfenstein Youngblood. Up to this point, Bethesda’s Wolfenstein games have been a single-player affair. This time around, though, you’ll be able to play the whole thing co-op or solo.

We haven’t gotten a chance to see any gameplay from Youngblood yet. Unfortunately, details have been scarce as to what the game will actually entail. Some facts we can be sure about are:

  • It’s a first-person shooter.
  • There is co-op.
  • It will feature Da’at Yichud tech.
  • The twins are searching for B.J. Blazkowicz who has gone missing in Vichy France.

Given that Wolfenstein Youngblood is set 20 years after Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, who knows what sick stuff we’ll be fighting this time. Nazi technology is sure to have grown beyond even the fantastical things we’ve seen in past games. We do know that the United States has been liberated after the Second American Revolution, though, so you may actually have some support this time around. We’ll just have to hold tight until we hear more.

Wolfenstein Youngblood Multiplayer

As we pointed out above, Wolfenstein Youngblood is the first multiplayer experience in the series since Bethesda took over. The emphasis here will be on co-op as players will get a chance to control either Jessica or Sophia Blazkowicz.

There’s no information as to whether PvP or invasion multiplayer modes will be available in the game. It’s entirely possible that Youngblood may be limited to co-op only. We’ll update this as more info becomes available.

Is Wolfenstein Youngblood the Sequel to Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus?

Wolfenstein Youngblood occurs around 20 years after Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. However, it’s less of a sequel and more of a side story. The game was conceived in the same vein as Wolfenstein: The Old Blood was, in that it’ll tell part of the story of the Wolfenstein universe, but the actual continuation to The New Colossus will be the in-development Wolfenstein 3.

We’ll get to see some of the aftermath of the events in The New Colossus, though. America has been liberated, and the Paris in Youngblood will have felt the effects of a world no longer firmly under the grasp of the Third Reich. What the Nazis are up to in France is a mystery, but it’s implied their rule there and over the rest of Europe is still strong.
