After a few months of waiting, the Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 release window has finally been unveiled. Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 will come out on January 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC presumably for $7.99 like the first episode or as part of the season pass. This vague Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 release date is still under wraps since Dontnod said that it can’t give a more detailed day until the middle of December.
Dontnod took to its blog to lay out why this episode has been taking quite some time to come out.
“The Life is Strange series is a project close to all of our hearts and one for which we do not want to rush development and thereby fail to meet the benchmark of quality and emotional impact that you, our players, deserve,” Dontnod stated. “This is why we so far have not announced an official release date—we want to ensure that we will be in a position to release something that we are proud of and that you will enjoy and remember forever.”
The first episode of Life is Strange 2 released on September 26 to generally positive reviews. However, that marks about four months between installments if Dontnod sticks to its January plan for the second episode.
This is pretty sizable wait for another episode even for the inconsistent release schedule for the first season. Life is Strange Episode 1 came out on January 30, 2015 while the second one dropped on March 24, 2015. May, July, and October marked the release dates for the third, fourth, and fifth episodes. Essentially, fans of the first season only had to wait about three months for each episode.
For comparison, Telltale’s games (aside from The Walking Dead: The Final Season for obvious reasons) also don’t have consistent release schedules between episodes but the wait times are not usually as long. Batman: Enemy Within‘s first entry released on August 8, 2017 while the second and third episodes released on October 3 and November 21, respectively.
