Saints Row IV Practically Banned In Australia For “Sexual Violence… Not Justified By Context”

Despite gaining an R18+ "Adults-Only" rating, Australia's Classification Board has refused to rate Saints Row IV stating that certain elements of Volition and Deep Silver's game are "prohibited by the computer game guildelines" garnering an RC, or "Refused Classification."

Way to tacitly endorse illegal downloads of Saints Row IV's unedited release, Australia. The ACB further stated that "In the Board's opinion, Saints Row IV, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer game guidelines."

So no sex and no drugs? What fun is there to be had in Australia anymore, aside from getting black-out drunk and trying to fight a Dingo? Joystiq heard from Deep Silver regarding the matter:

Deep Silver can confirm that Saints Row IV was denied an age classification in Australia. Volition, the developer, are reworking some of the code to create a version of the game for this territory by removing the content which could cause offence without reducing the outlandish gameplay that Saints Row fans know and love. Saints Row IV has been awarded PEGI 18 and ESRB M ratings where fans can enjoy their time in Steelport as originally intended.

So, *wink-wink* *nudge-nudge* *fart-fart* you can import the real game from the good ol' US of A… or Europe, you know, whichever.
