Switch Lite Joy-Con drift issues being reported

These are the most downloaded Nintendo Switch games of 2019

Nintendo has released the Switch eShop download ranks for 2019, and the results are somewhat surprising. While it won’t shock anyone that Fortnite takes the number one spot, there are definitely some titles ranking higher than we anticipated.

It should be noted that when tallying this list, Nintendo included all titles in the Switch eShop. That means free-to-play games are mixed in with those that cost money. So, this list isn’t really an indicator of bestsellers for the system. Regardless, it’s not hard to infer which games were Nintendo’s biggest money makers of 2019 from this list.

The list for most downloaded Nintendo Switch games of 2019 is:

  1. Fortnite
  2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  3. Minecraft
  4. Cuphead
  5. Untitled Goose Game
  6. Pokémon Sword
  7. Fire Emblem: Three Houses
  8. NBA 2K19
  9. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
  10. Dragon Ball FighterZ
  11. Pokémon Shield
  12. Super Mario Maker 2
  13. Overcooked 2
  14. Hollow Knight
  15. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
  16. Luigi’s Mansion 3
  17. Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda
  18. Super Mario Party
  19. Final Fantasy VII
  20. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for Nintendo Switch
  21. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
  22. Undertale
  23. Crypt of the NecroDancer
  24. Warframe
  25. Mortal Kombat 11

Again, Fortnite taking the top position isn’t a huge surprise. However, Cuphead and Untitled Goose Game being positioned above Pokemon Sword and Fire Emblem: Three Houses in digital sales is a shock. While this list doesn’t count physical copies whatsoever, it’s interesting to see that two indie games pulled digital-only numbers higher than two of Nintendo’s biggest titles of the year.

Unfortunately, Nintendo hasn’t released the actual numbers behind the list, so we’re at a loss on just how successful each title has been on the eShop. It’s entirely possible that Switch owners vastly prefer physical media, and these are only a fraction of the total of each title sold. Regardless, it gives us a good look at Switch owners’ digital preferences.
