FF7 Remake sales sets amazing new records for franchise

FF7 Remake sales have been pretty damn good. They’ve been so good, in fact, that Final Fantasy 7 Remake has set several records for both the Final Fantasy franchise and game sales in 2020.

NPD Analyst Mat Piscatella has revealed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake has had the best launch month ever for any single Final Fantasy game. That shouldn’t be much of a surprise considering that fans have been demanding a remake of this game for more than a decade. Final Fantasy 7 is arguably the most popular game in the franchise of all time — and now we have some data to back it up.

What records did the FF7 Remake sales set in April 2020?

  • Best launch month unit sales ever for a Final Fantasy game
  • Best launch month dollar sales ever for a Final Fantasy game
  • Best-selling game of April 2020
  • Best-selling PS4 game in 2020 thus far
  • #3 best-selling game of 2020 overall

The stellar sales show the level of demand there was for a remake of such a classic game. If we’re lucky, Square Enix will use this data as inspiration to create other hotly-demanded remakes, too.
