Wii U Console Sales In UK Jump 685% Following Wind Waker HD Release

Thanks to the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Nintendo's tablet-centric console has seen a major sales bump in the UK.

According to a report from MCV, Wii U sales jumped a whopping 685% last week, and with the recent release of the gorgeous Zelda remake along with the $50 console price cut, one can imagine why.

Despite the fact that the first title in Nintendo's beloved action adventure series on Wii U is merely an HD remake, Wind Waker's cel-shaded visuals have translated beautifully into HD, hiding the fact that it's actually a ten year-old GameCube game.

Will Super Mario 3D World be able to bring about a similar spike in sales when it launches next month? We'll just have to wait and see. I'm sure Iwata and the rest of the folks over at Nintendo have their fingers crossed.
