Video Games Credited for Lower Crime Rates

In an article about the declining crime rates in the US (despite the increased reports of crime in the news…), the BBC cited video games as one of the top ten reasons contributing to this phenomenon:

9. A study released last month suggested video games were keeping young people off the streets and therefore away from crime. Researchers in Texas working with the Centre for European Economic Research said this "incapacitation effect" more than offset any direct impact the content of the games may have had in encouraging violent behaviour.

It looks like video games are slowly becoming more accepted in mainstream media… when it's not being spun.
