It Took Seven Years, But Brazil Is Getting Localized WoW

Good news everyone! Well… good news, Brazilians! Um… good news, Brazilian gamers! I mean… Brazilian WoW players! Now, who does that leave? Oh, hi Eduardo.

We have this motivational poster in our office. I'm not kidding.

Anyway, 7 1/2 years after the worldwide phenomenon and debilitating online addiction known as World of Warcraft was released, Brazil is finally getting in on some of that sweet, sweet, loot-whoring action. Blizzard announced today that WoW will see a completely localized release in Brazilian Portuguese later this year, marking the ninth language in which you can play the game:

"The original World of Warcraft, which now includes the content of the first expansion, The Burning Crusade, as part of the base game, will be available in stores throughout Brazil at a suggested retail price of BRL 29.90. Fully localized versions of the second and third expansions, Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm, will also be available at a suggested retail price of BRL 99.90 each. World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm will come packaged in a DVD case and will include the game media and documentation in Brazilian Portuguese.

Subscription plans will be available at launch at an expected price of BRL 15 (30 days), BRL 42 (90 days), and BRL 78 (180 day). Sixty-day time cards will also be available in retail stores at launch."

Luckily for me, I have no idea what those numbers mean, other than the fact that they're probably hyper-inflated because that's how Brazil rolls.

I'm still content to play WoW here, where I can see a story every bit as stupefying as in any of those places, and in English, too.
