Gears of War 6 Could See Return of Star Wars and Spider-Man Writer

Gears of War 6 might not have officially been announced, but that’s not stopping people from discussing the game. A recent tweet by Star Wars, Spider-Man, and former Gears of War 2 writer Joshua Ortega seems to indicate that writing is underway on the game and that he has joined the project as a writer.

Joshua Ortega potentially back for Gears of War 6

Joshua Ortega, a writer that worked on Gears of War 2 along with working on Star Wars and Spider-Man comics, tweeted yesterday that “Once again it’s on,” quote tweeting a tweet of his from 2019 that discussed what he did on Gears of War itself.

There’s still no official confirmation on the existence of Gears of War 6, but if this tweet means what Ortega seems to be hinting at, writing for the game is beginning currently.

A few weeks ago, Jeff Grubb of GiantBomb stated that he firmly believes that Gears of War 6 is the sole focus of developer The Coalition after a series of projects were canceled, and several people had been let go from Microsoft’s gaming teams thanks to cuts across the entire company.
