Manufacturing Error Gives Samus Two Cannons, eBay Seller $2,500

Nintendo's line of figurines that allow interaction between memory stored in the base of the toy and whatever game you may be playing have hardly hit store shelves and already one manufacturing defect has netted a lucky eBay seller $2,500.

The eBay sale, pictured above, started at $50. That's already about $30 over the price of an amiibo at retail, yet this amiibo proved special for one obvious reason. Metroid heroine Samus Aran doesn't normally sport two arm cannons, though that's how this strange error decked her our for battle in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, one of the first games to use amiibo figurines.

Within the first twenty four hours of the listing, the bidding jumped to $255. By yesterday morning, one eBay shopper was willing to spend $1,050. That price certainly pales in comparison to the final sale price of $2,500.

We got our hands-on a Mario amiibo with our review copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, so be sure to read our amiibo review here and our review of that game here. amiibo figures also work with Mario Kart 8 and more games will reveal compatibility soon.
