The Most Interesting Gamer In The World Western Hemisphere

He is everything Heath Hindman is not, and somethings he is.
What's a bidet?
He is the most interesting gamer in the world Western Hemisphere.

I have to say, I'm a little ashamed. I never thought of gamers as this whining mass of entitled crybabies, kicking and screaming their way to what they hinge every desperate desire on. Of course, I've been proven wrong before.

This week saw the release of the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC, a piece of content that would never have seen the light of day or million's of harddrives everywhere, if not for a tsunami of complaining, bitching, insulting, finger-pointing, and fanboy tears. It probably didn't change anyone's opinion.

And why is that? Why do the complainers still complain? Why is it that the people pleased with Mass Effect 3's ending continue to reflect on Shepard's journey with smiles on their faces?

Because Bioware's product, game, narrative, whatever you want to call it, is as much theirs as it is yours, and you'd be stupid to think otherwise. It's their own fault for blurring the line so deliberately, giving players choice in situations where previously there was none. But that doesn't give all those heinously hateful gamers the grounds to waste our time.

The reality is, you'll never please everyone, and that's what we saw this week. Bioware Forumgoers still had the venom and praise on their lips for the developer. Only internet blowhard fanboys could offer timeless criticism like:

im extremely disappointed the ec sucks balls. – kingalexdarkroo

Hated it then, hate it now – steeltrainn

I find it depressingly sad that BioWare screwed up Mass Effect so badly, twice. We asked for closure and endings that made sense, had a colorful array of endings (and NOT in the literal sense) and what we got instead was a pile of implied insults, more plot holes, useless scenes and a slideshow. – Trifecta739

I honestly don't understand why they even bothered. This can't possibly be enough for anyone who hated the original ending. – Lyme Eilserv

Why the fuck DID Bioware bother? Nevermind the fact that their creative control was wrenched from their hands. Nevermind that these ungrateful dickheads spent 30 hours on a game the developers spent thousands of hours creating. Nevermind that this is the internet age and everyone HAS to have something to say.

This should be a clear and plain message to other developers of fan-favorite experiences. Ignore the haters and do what you want to do. Chances are you'll create something most people will enjoy anyway.
