Nintendo Direct February 8, 2023 Predictions: What Games Will Be Announced?

A Nintendo Direct is always the most exciting time for Nintendo fans. With the Nintendo Direct for February 8, 2023, fast approaching, fans are obviously speculating as to what they can expect to see.

There are some games that we’ll almost definitely see at the event, and there are some that are relatively unlikely, but we’ve taken a few of our biggest predictions, some wild, some likely, and grouped them together here so you can laugh at how stupid we look during the actual event.

Our game predictions for the February 8 Nintendo Direct

Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom gameplay deep dive

Will Tears Of The Kingdom be there tonight?

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is currently scheduled to drop in May of this year, and we’re yet to really see any extended chunks of gameplay. While it’s pretty likely that we’ll see an actual direct focused entirely around the title, maybe in April of this year, there’s a pretty high chance that this direct will present us with our first look at the game in action, perhaps along with a full exploration of the map of this world.

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp drops immediately after the show

We know Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp is finished. The game was originally due to release on April 8th but was pushed indefinitely due to the situation in Ukraine. It’s sitting in some drawer inside Nintendo currently, so it’s perfect for a shadow drop straight after the Nintendo Direct itself.

Metroid Prime collection finally announced

Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb has stated multiple times that he’s heard talk of a Metroid Prime collection due for release on Nintendo Switch prior to the release of Metroid Prime 4 (via TechRaptor). While so far they’ve not shown up at all, it’s inevitable that Nintendo would want to port these games to a new audience considering the amount of money they’re leaving on the table.

No discussion of Metroid Prime 4

Similarly to the last prediction, Metroid Prime 4 won’t show up at all. The game has apparently had a rather troubled development, and development was even restarted four years ago. It might show up at another direct later this year, but that direct won’t be today.

Game Boy Games announced for Switch Online, Pokemon R/B/Y to have Scarlet/Violet functionality

Switch Online is falling far behind other services such as Xbox Game Pass and somehow even PlayStation Plus in offering retro titles, and Nintendo should rectify this by offering Game Boy games. While there are a lot of games that they could offer, there are three that they absolutely have to offer: Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, and Pokemon Yellow.

They’re classics for a reason, and they’re beloved by a generation of gamers. In order to sweeten the deal, Nintendo should make it so that any Pokemon caught in these titles are able to be transferred through some witchcraft to Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, allowing generation 1 Pokemon to be used in this title.
