Fallout 76 Modding and Community Servers Confirmed by Bethesda

Bethesda has confirmed that it will implement Fallout 76 modding and community servers. The developer’s iconic franchise has enabled modding to take place, particularly on PC, in recent times. Fallout 76 will be no different it seems, with project lead Jeff Gardiner revealing that Bethesda wants to include this, and community servers, in the game at some point.

“We love the modding community and we’ve been supporting them for decades,” Gardiner was quoted as saying over at VG247. “We do plan to launch private worlds in the future where people can modify their servers as they see fit. We 100% want to support [community servers]. That has been my goal with this game since day one.”

However, Bethesda executives were quick to point out that these features won’t be present from launch day. Fallout 76 is due to land on various platforms on November 14, while a beta will be incoming in late October. Bethesda’s Vice-President of Marketing Pete Hines explained, however, that players shouldn’t expect these two additions to be available for some months.

“By the way, we should be clear, [this won’t happen] all that close to launch,” Hines commented. “It ain’t happening a couple of months after launch, it’s gonna take some amount of time to spin up your private servers to support whatever mods you want to run. It’s going to take a while.”

Fallout 76 is a prequel to Bethesda’s other entries in the series, and is set in West Virginia. Players take on the role of one of the first vault dwellers to emerge after the nuclear fallout, and are tasked with rebuilding the world after this calamity. Fallout 76 is different to previous editions though, with Bethesda opting for an online multiplayer experience that allows players to rebuild the world together. Fallout 76 will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
