Fallout Games Have Become So Popular After TV Show That Modding Sites Are Struggling To Cope

The recent release of the Fallout TV show means the games themselves have been getting a bit of a popularity boost. The likes of Fallout 76 have seen player increases thanks to the Amazon adaptation. However, it’s also causing some issues on modding sites.

Investigations continue

In a recent status page update on Nexus Mods – one of the biggest websites for modifications and fan-made content – the servers seem to be struggling with people seeking Fallout mods.

The last thing the site said at the time of writing is, “we are continuing to investigate the issue.” Thanks to greater interest in the games, Nexus is experiencing a “heavy load on the website.”

The problems stem from a couple of days ago when a post said the company had “deployed extra resources where possible” and that the team was “monitoring the uptime and performance across the network.” This also includes having “staff on call at all times.”

It’s pretty clear the Fallout TV show – which recently confirmed a second season was in the pipeline – has brought an influx of players to Nexus Mods. No doubt, server issues will be dealt with swiftly, but you may have to be a bit patient for the time being.

Custom modifications are a time-honored tradition in the world of video games, especially when it comes to PC gaming. Classics such as Doom and Half-Life have been instrumental in allowing the community to tinker with vanilla releases with the potential to create something wholly unique.

Bethesda has typically been a supporter of the modding fan base, so it’s not surprising people have been flocking to places like Nexus in the wake of this new-found interest in the Fallout series.
