Anthem voice actors

Anthem Voice actors | Who are the stars of Anthem?

Anthem, the latest game from the studio behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age, is here, and like those games it’s packed with familiar voice actors playing compelling parts. Who can forget Freddie Prinze Jr as Iron Bull in Dragon Age Inquisition, or Martin Sheen’s sinister tones as The Illusive Man in the Mass Effect series? Anthem has some character turns who may become just as iconic, but who are the Anthem voice actors, and where might we know them from? Let’s have a look.

Who are the Anthem voice actors and where do we know them from?

TJ Ramini as Owen Corley

We’re going to be honest, when we first heard Owen Corley, your over-enthusiastic partner, we thought he was voiced by Stephen Merchant. Well, it’s not the voice of Portal 2‘s Wheatley, he’s played by TJ Ramini, a different British voice actor. He’s been corrupt cop DC Zain Nadir in British cop show The Bill, Tarin Faroush in the final season of 24, Cross in the recent return of Prison Break, or Officer Malachi Ben-Gidon in NCIS. He’s also been in a load of videogames too, including Bayonetta 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, DOTA 2, The Walking Dead: Michonne, and Uncharted 3. Nothing from BioWare though, surprisingly.

Vik Sahay as Matthias Sumner

The slightly odd Arcanist explorer Matthias Sumner is voiced by Vik Sahay, who’s probably best known for his turn as Lester Patel on TV series Chuck, a role he played for five years and across many different spin-offs (including webisodes). Other than that he’s mostly taken smaller roles on shows such as The X-Files, NCIS, Bones, Lucifer and Grimm.

Amy Okuda as Ryssa Brin

Amy Okuda plays this respected member of the Sentinels who seeks out your Freelancer. She’s probably best known in more geeky domains as Tinkerballa in The Guild, although she’s currently starring as Julia Sasaki in Netflix series Atypical, which has just been renewed for a third season. She’s also had big appearances on The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, How to Get Away With Murder, and The Man in the High Castle.

Jack McBrayer as Amal

Friendly bartender Amal is portrayed by Jack McBrayer, who’s no stranger to voice acting. You may have seen him as Kenneth Parcell on 30 Rock, but his voice brought to life Super Mario parody character Fix-It Felix on Wreck-It Ralph and recent sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet. He’s also been in Drunk History, Bob’s Burgers, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Wander Over Yonder, and he’s even played Donald Trump on Conan O’Brien’s TV series…

Joe Lo Truglio as Neeson

Neeson Giles is a laundry worker and gossip trying to ingratiate himself with the Freelancers, but don’t hold that against him. He’s played by Joe Lo Truglio, who’s had a lot of comedy roles, but none more notable than the useless Detective Boyle on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He’s also appeared on Bob’s Burgers, Superbad, Role Models, Pineapple Express, and The State sketch show, although up to this point his only notable videogame role was Vincenzo Cilli in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.

Anthony Howell as The Monitor

Anthony Howell is the voice of the Dominion’s sinister and not-at-all Darth Vader-like The Monitor, and his is a voice well know to videogame fans. While on TV Howell has portrayed Sergeant Paul Milner in Foyle’s War, he’s best known for his many voice roles. Most recently, he was the player character in both Call of Cthulhu and Vampyr, Edward Pierce and Dr Jonathan Reid respectively. He’s had smaller voice roles in Mass Effect Andromeda, World of Warcraft, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Dawn of War 3, but he also played both Gaspard de Chalons and Knight-Captain Rylen in Dragon Age Inquisition, and Lucent Bahavas in Horizon Zero Dawn.

Catherine Tate as Max

Max is the charming owner of the bar downstairs at Fort Tarsis, and she’s always there to spark up conversation. She’s played by Catherine Tate, who was well known as a British comedian for a long time before she gained fame as disgruntled then eager companion Donna Noble in Doctor Who, opposite David Tennant. More recently she also again starred opposite Tennant as the voice of Magica De Spell on the reboot of DuckTales.

Annie Wersching as Tassyn

The slightly grumpy spy Tassyn is played by Annie Wersching, who recently appeared on TV series Runaways as Leslie Dean and Timeless as Emma Whitmore. She’s also been in The Vampire Diaries, Castle, Bosch, 24, and in videogames her only other role has been the voice of Tess in The Last of Us.
