Nier: Automata Gets Launch Trailer Following Widespread Critical Acclaim

Nier: Automata is currently doing very well for itself, earning widespread attention following critical acclaim that has propelled it to a position of being the highest rated PS4 game so far in 2017. Sorry, Horizon Zero Dawn.

Square Enix has debuted a launch trailer for the title that emphasizes the game's two best qualities: its story and combat. Both are shown off in high tempo fashion, backed by a powerful orchestral movement.

Made by PlatinumGames, Nier: Automata's combat system is fast-paced and visually brilliant, taking inspiration from Bayonetta's design. Light and strong attacks are combo'd into each other along with usage of special abilities and ranged capabilities, one of which comes in the form of a friendly drone that follows you around. There is additionally a top-down shooter style mini-game that is woven into the framework of the game, which is said to help diversify the gameplay in arcade fashion.

Nier: Automata is a sequel to 2010's Nier, a game that debuted to far less positive reception (90 Metacritic vs 68). Both belong to the Drakengard series of games.
