Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Documentary Enters Crowdfunding Stage

If you hadn't heard, there's a documentary being made about Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Entitled Pretending I'm a Superman (taken, of course, from the Goldfinger track of similar name), it aims to explore how the games in the series came to be, the process of creating them, and their global impact on skating, gamers, and extreme sports in general.

Ralph D'Amato is producing the documentary, and crowdfunding has begun via IndieGoGo. D'Amato of course is no random filmmaker; he was the main producer of every Tony Hawk game up until he left original developer Neversoft sometime in 2007.

In the current age Tony Hawk's Pro Skater as a franchise has yielded to Skate as the predominant force in the skateboarding videogame arena, but the latter could never have happened without the former, nor would many extreme sports games have ever come to be in general. Maybe if the documentary goes well we can get an SSX documentary after that.

If you're curious, GameRevolution has reviewed nearly every Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game since the original. The links to those reviews are below.
