20 Games That Made Famitsu Readers Cry

Japanese gaming media outlet Famitsu recently conducted a poll to see what games made the highest number of its readers cry. Final Fantasy games being known for their storytelling and the survey being conducted in the land where RPGs reign, it's no surprise to see a few of its titles show up. Final Fantasy X, which recently turned a decade old, topped the list, with PSP-based FFVII follow-up Crisis Core coming in second. Keep in mind that seeing the same number means the games in question got the same number of votes and check the full list below:

It is a…ahem, *crying* shame that Mother 3 never officially came out in English. That's a story that could make a man tear up. I haven't played the fan patch that apparently exists somewhere, so I can't speak for its quality, but in Japanese, it hits home pretty hard. Protip: name the character your own name. Just trust me.

One comment about third-place Okami spoke of a proud hertiage and read, "If you didn't cry at the end, you're not Japanese." Another claimed Final Fantasy XIII was good enough to be a movie; some might argue that it was.  A number of readers pointed to the ending of Crisis Core as the point that brought out their tears, with one saying that when you see the connection to FFVII and realize the magnitude of Zack's impact, tears become mandatory.
