Naughty Dog Talks The Last of Us Multiplayer, Won’t Compromise Single-Player

Yesterday, Naughty Dog revealed the box art as well as the pre-order bonuses for their upcoming game The Last of Us; however, the bulk of the chatter didn't surround the game's art or the pre-order incentives, but rather the inclusion of multiplayer, which has many gamers worried.

Naughty Dog's community strategist Arne Meyer took to the comments section of the PlayStation Blog to quell gamer's fears, saying:

We don’t approach MP in any of our games as tacked on. And we also always have separate teams working on the different components so that we can maintain full focus on making SP and MP up to our standards.

We have faith that our MP will stand on it’s own. If we felt like it would be tacked on, we wouldn’t have added it. We want all our game experiences to be of the highest quality and that’s what we work extremely hard to deliver.

Meyer went on to emphasize the fact that they have two separate teams, one focused on SP and the other on MP. In this way, resources allocated to the single-player side of things has in no way been compromised for the development of the multiplayer portion.

MP has never taken away resources from the SP game in any of our games, always separate teams, separate resources. The folks working on the single player campaign always have the resources and support to complete that portion of the game to the vision they planned for.

The SP portion of the game hasn’t been skimped out on in any way.

So, all of you who were worried, do these comments from Meyer put your mind at ease? Let us know in the comments below.
