Revolve8 Episodic Dueling Announced By Sega for Smartphones

Sega has announced a brand-new real-time strategy game coming to Android and iOS devices: Revolve8 Episodic Dueling. The strategy game comes from the minds of Masayoshi Kikuchi (director of Jet Set Radio, producer of Yakuza) and Koji Igarashi (creator of Igavania genre). The Revolve8 release date is tentatively set as Winter 2018, with a Closed Beta Test going live on October 23 through to November 2, 2018.

Sega has explained plenty about its new mobile game (via Gematsu), saying that an “all-star team brings to the table a cast of funky Heroes who will shatter your expectations.” So, whatever your expectations may be, expect to have them shattered by Revolve8. The game has you dealing cards in an attempt to destroy your enemy’s towers within a three-minute time limit. “The player wields a deck of eight cards, each with their own strengths and weaknesses… The rules are simple, but the cards and powerful Hero skills they use opens up players to fun and strategic real-time duels.” We’ve attached a screenshot to hopefully give some idea of what the game looks like below:

There are four classes of cards: “Heroes, Minions, Buildings, and Magic.” You’ll need to strategize well with each card class to earn a victory. Along with the four card classes, there are also three Deck Types in Revolve8 Episodic Dueling. The game will automatically place any deck you make into one of three deck types. These are as follows:

  • “Assault Decks: Lets you go deep into enemy lines.”
  • “Siege Decks: Focuses on attacking long distance.”
  • “Counter Decks: Looks for opportunities to counterattack.”

Each of the heroes, of which you can find out more on the game’s official website have two skills. There’s your “Normal Skill”, and the “Special Skill.” Normal Skills can be used every 30 seconds by any leader card you may have in your deck. The Special Skills, meanwhile, can only be used once in each battle by the deck leader. Of course, each Hero will come with its own skills. You’ll have to find the skills that best suit your tactics for each level.

If all of this sounds good to you, Sega is letting us pre-register for the game (in the US) right now. Simply follow this link to get on with that.
