The GameSir Galileo G8+ MFi primarily takes aim at Apple users wanting a capable mobile controller that connects via USB-C. Being an MFi-certified controller means this gamepad is officially supported by iPhones and iPads. Like previous GameSir controllers, there’s a lot to like here. Here is my review.
First things first
Out of the box, the GameSir G8+ MFi feels like a solid bit of kit. It uses a telescopic design to extend far enough to fit even an iPad mini. The USB-C connection is well-positioned to make docking simple and secure. The controller pairs with the phone through this connection, instead of Bluetooth, but it also supports pass-through charging, which is a must-have feature for those marathon gaming sessions.
The modern must-have “Hall Effect” tech is incorporated throughout this controller. The thumbsticks and triggers utilize this in an effort to improve longevity and provide consistent accuracy.
Get customizing

The magnetic faceplate is also a highlight, allowing for personalization of the thumbsticks and face button layouts. However, when it comes to buttons, the two on the rear are the highlight for me. Customizable back buttons will forever be a must-have for me, as they offer such a huge advantage in competitive first-person shooters.
The D-pad is solid, too, and works well for old-school games via emulation. Fighting game fans should be happy enough with this.
It’s also great to see a 3.5mm jack, with support for wired headphones. For low-latency sound, wired remains the way to go, so this is an awesome boon for gamers.
Big advantages

The big advantage of the GameSir G8+ MFi controller is the wired connection. You never have to worry about wireless and the potential for latency issues during crucial gaming moments. What’s more, you don’t need to worry about charging the controller on top of your phone!
Another big highlight of the G8+ MFi is comfort. GameSir has gained a lot of experience in this market and it shows, as the company has exceeded expectations when it comes to the ergonomics and long-term comfort with this device.
Some downsides

When it comes to downsides, the G8+ MFi lacks some features that mobile controller veterans may be expecting. There’s no gyro and no turbo mode.
Additionally, while the wired-only approach is good for Apple users, the lack of wireless via Bluetooth does limit the devices the G8+ MFi is compatible with. For example, you won’t be pairing it with the Nintendo Switch 2.

Final Verdict
At $79.99, the GameSir Galileo G8+ MFi isn’t cheap, but it’s a strong option for Apple users who value comfort, build quality, and a reliable wired connection. It focuses on the essentials and delivers a solid overall experience, even if it lacks some features and broader compatibility.
