GameSir T7 Pro Sugar Whirl Wireless Controller Review

The GameSir T7 Pro Sugar Whirl is one of the most visually distinctive Xbox controllers I have used, combining a translucent pastel shell and RGB lighting with TMR sticks, adjustable triggers, rear buttons, and officially licensed wireless connectivity. After using it across casual and competitive games, here is my review.

A distinctive design

The Sugar Whirl finish blends pink, blue, and lavender shades across its translucent shell. Light from the RGB elements spreads through the plastic to create a soft glow rather than a series of bright, exposed points. It really is quite unique!

The matching charging dock continues the same design and gives the controller a dedicated place to sit between sessions. The styling will not appeal to everyone, but it feels more considered than a basic colour variation.

Controls and performance

GameSir T7 Pro review

The T7 Pro uses GameSir Mag-Res TMR sticks. During my testing, they performed consistently, with no noticeable issues relating to movement or responsiveness. “TMR” is the latest must-have feature that enthusiasts are hunting for, so it’s good to see it here.

However, it’s the adjustable triggers that are one of this controller’s biggest advantages. They can use their full analogue range for racing games or be shortened with trigger stops for faster inputs in shooters. Some custom controllers require buyers to commit to one trigger type, so being able to move between both configurations is useful.

The face buttons and D-pad feel softer and slightly mushier than controls that use microswitches. Functionally, they work perfectly fine, but players who prefer a sharp click may find them less satisfying. However, the quieter operation is useful in shared rooms, where repeated microswitch clicks can become distracting. My wife always knows when I’m using a microswitch controller because the clicks are so loud.

Two rear buttons are positioned within easy reach. I could use them without changing my grip, but they were not so exposed that I pressed them unintentionally. I’d honestly call them perfect.

Wireless use and battery

GameSir T7 Pro review

Wireless performance remained stable throughout my testing. Battery life was also good, and placing the controller back on its dock after playing made it easy to keep charged without giving it much thought. I feel like docks are true game-changers when it comes to wireless pads and dodging battery anxiety.

The four rumble motors provide effective feedback. I normally disable vibration because I find it distracting and would personally prefer a lighter version without the motors. However, many players value rumble, so including it is a sensible choice.

The main limitation

The most obvious limitation is the Sugar Whirl design itself. Players who prefer darker or more understated hardware may find it difficult to match with their setup. Additional restrained colour options would make the T7 Pro easier to recommend widely. Hopefully more designs are revealed soon!

Final Verdict

At $89.99, the GameSir T7 Pro Sugar Whirl offers a useful selection of premium features and performed reliably throughout my testing. Its appearance and softer button feel will come down to personal preference, but the overall package provides great value.
