Ubisoft Commits To Improving Relationship With PC Gamers

PC gaming has been neglected for almost a decade, but developers are beginning to wake up.

Speaking to MCV UK, Ubisoft's Stephanie Perotti shared the company's commitment to become more popular with PC gamers around the world. She said:

Announcing all these partners for Uplay and a wider choice of PC games, it shows our commitment to PC, and we want to improve out relationship with the PC community.

She continued:

We are always seeking to improve. We took a lot of that feedback on board. With every game on PC we are improving. Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed III on PC were very high quality.

Although Far Cry 3 on PC suffered from several glitches and wasn't quite as fulfilling as promised, it was a step in the right direction. Assassin's Creed III did an even better job with visuals that were immeasurably better than their console counterparts, and was much more stable than previous games in the series.

Sony recently announced that the PlayStation 4 will be built on x86 architecture which is what the majority of PC games are fond of. Furthermore, it's in the best interest of multiplatform developers such as Ubisoft to work on improving their relationships with PC gamers so not only do the console releases fly off store shelves, but more PC gamers are interested as well. If there's one thing we've learned from releases such as Diablo III and Guild Wars 2 it's that the PC community is much bigger than people realize, and can produce sales figures beyond what even the best-selling consoles can muster. With even less work needed to port games over next-generation, it's a huge potential source of profit that should be fully taken advantage of.
