Forza Horizon 5 Location Map

Forza Horizon 5 is set in Mexico and looks gorgeous

Forza Horizon 5 got a reveal at the Xbox E3 2021 Showcase, and this time we’re headed to somewhere a bit drier than jolly, old England. That’s right, Forza Horizon 5 is going to Mexico and it looks great.

For the first time, the Forza franchise is skipping its tick-tock format of releasing a Forza Motorsport and then a Forza Horizon. Turn 10 is continuing work on the reboot of the series (confusingly titled “Forza Motorsport”). Unfortunately, no news about that title was at E3 2021 other than that it’s still in production.

Forza Horizon 5 location and map

In Forza Horizon 5, we’ll be going south of the border (the US border, that is) to Mexico. The country looks fantastic, and the game really shows the diversity of the Mexican landscape. New lighting and an enhanced engine means Forza looks better than ever, and weather and particle effects look excellent. The map still hasn’t been revealed yet, but it’s claimed to be “the biggest open-world in the Forza series so far.”

This will likely be the franchise’s last foray on the Xbox One family of consoles. Forza Motorsport (8) is being developed with new technologies and ray-tracing that likely won’t be compatible with last-gen systems. Of course, Horizon 5 will debut on Xbox Game Pass at launch, which is a big bonus for subscribers. Different editions of the game haven’t been revealed yet, but if it follows previous patterns there’ll be a season pass and various pre-order bonuses available for those who purchase the game outright.

Forza Horizon 5 will release on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on November 9, 2021. Like other first-party Microsoft games, it’ll be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, though it’s likely it’ll be the standard edition only.
