Rumor: Nintendo Demos Coming to Mobile Platforms [Update: Nintendo Denies]

[Update] Nintendo has released a statement to Engadget, confirming that the company has no intention of bringing its software to smartphones in the form of "minigames."

Nikkei's article contains information previously stated by Mr Iwata during past press conferences, including statements which relate to Nintendo's willingness to make use of smart devices to promote our products.

However during such past announcements Mr Iwata has also stated that Nintendo's intention is not to make Nintendo software available on smart devices and as such, we can confirm that there are no plans to offer minigames on smartphone devices.

[Original] A new report suggests that Nintendo will be releasing samples of its upcoming content on smart devices in the form of videos and demos.

Japanese outlet Nikkei is reporting (via a consulting firm based in Japan) that the Big N plans to bring playable demos and videos to mobile devices in an attempt to promote its game software. Make no mistake, this does not mean that Nintendo would be releasing full games on smartphones, just small playable samples.

As for how the company would tackle the issue of input differences, your guess is as good as mine. Hopefully we'll find out more later this week when Nintendo holds its quarterly financial briefing, where the company's plans for the future will be fleshed out.
