Mortal Kombat X Announced, Coming 2015 [Update]

[Update] It's official! Mortal Kombat X is real and will be launching on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PS3, and PC next year. Check out the killer announcement trailer below.

"Mortal Kombat has always been about over-the-top, visceral fighting and with Mortal Kombat X we wanted to utilize the power of new-gen consoles to give players our most intense game yet," NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon said. "The team has worked hard to make sure Mortal Kombat X delivers everything fans expect along with new characters, new game modes and an all new graphics engine."

For the first time in the series' history, Mortal Kombat X will offer up a roster will with multiple versions of each character, which each variation serving up an array of different fighting styles, adding an new layer of strategy that hardcore fighting game fans will no doubt enjoy.

[Original] A listing on Amazon UK has prematurely outed the existence of Mortal Kombat X ahead of the expected official reveal by developer NetherRealm Studios next week at June's gaming expo in Los Angeles.

The store listing has since been removed, but not before MP1st managed to grab a screenshot. The description indicates a 2015 release for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PS3, and PC.

 

This isn't the first bit of evidence we've received regarding a new entry in the gory and gruesome fighting franchise, as a poster was leaked—teasing an E3 reveal—just last week.
