Disney+ To Get TikTok-Style Content Soon

Disney+ is gearing up for a major revamp that holds potential to take the streaming experience to new heights. For the upcoming makeover, the entertainment giant is borrowing a page from the TikTok playbook to create a more immersive experience for users. Here are more details about Disney+’s exciting new interface.

Disney+ all set to introduce TikTok-style content

Disney+ is about to shake things up with a facelift. As announced at CES on January 7, 2026, the streaming platform will be introducing TikTok-style vertical videos later this year. The aim is to enhance user engagement and retention. The target audience is younger viewers, accustomed to scrolling through short-form content on social media like TikTok and Instagram Reels.

In a recent chat with Deadline, Erin Teague, Disney+’s EVP of Product Management, shed light on the thinking process. As explained by Teague, “the most important thing is to meet people where they are. … This is what Gen Z and Gen Alpha are expecting. They are not necessarily thinking about sitting down, watching a long-form, two-and-a-half-hour piece of content on their phones”.

The diverse vertical video menu might include original shorts, clips from popular shows and movies, and more. “We’re obviously thinking about integrating vertical video in ways that are native to core user behaviors,” Teague said. “So, it won’t be a kind of a disjointed, random experience.”

“We’ll look to evolve the experience over time,” Disney announced. The goal is to “explore its use in a variety of ways across categories and content types, for a personalized and dynamic feed.” The upgrade paves the way for Disney+ to dive into fresh categories like news and entertainment.

As of yet, there’s no official word on when vertical videos will start appearing on Disney+ or what they’ll look like.
