Internet left stunned by viral kung-fu robots in Chinese New Year clip

The internet is going wild over a trending video of kung-fu robots performing at a Chinese Lunar New Year Gala.

Unitree Robotics’ newly unveiled humanoid robots left audiences mesmerized with their flawless martial arts moves. From nunchuck routines, backflips, frontflips, to twirling staffs with expert precision and grasping a katana with ease, the robots showcased China’s robotics and AI advancements.

The robots shared the stage with human martial artists, mirroring their movements and engaging in choreographed battles. Every swing, flip, and stunt was perfectly synchronized, showcasing the machines’ impressive agility and balance, even during high-speed transitions.

“Dozens of G1 robots achieved the world’s first fully autonomous humanoid robot cluster Kung Fu performance (with quick movement), pushing motion limits and setting multiple world firsts!” The company stated.

Furthermore, an estimated one billion viewers across China tuned in to watch the robotics showcase, making it one of the year’s most-watched live events. Netizens soon flooded X (formerly Twitter) with praise for the enthralling performance.

“If things keep going like this, China will end up on top. Is the world okay with that?” speculated an awestruck fan. “@grok is this video real or AI generated ?” questioned another, to which Elon Musk’s AI replied in the affirmative. “Need to learn to live in an underground bunker and grow my own food without sunlight,” tweeted an X user.

The showcase is a significant leap from 2025, when Unitree’s humanoid robots could only manage a controlled boxing match with limited movement. The performance was more than just entertainment; it highlighted China’s ambitions in the robotics and AI sectors.

With government support and corporate investment pouring in, China might soon become a global leader in humanoid robotics, potentially transforming industries like manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare.
