GTA 6 Finally Has a Price & It Breaks the $70 Barrier

GTA 6‘s price has finally been unveiled, and it might surprise some fans as it has crossed the $70 threshold. While announcing the price, Rockstar Games also revealed that it will feature a “single-player experience” at launch. The highly anticipated new version of the video game will launch in November 2026.

Rockstar finally reveals the price of GTA 6

Rockstar revealed that GTA 6 will cost $79.99 across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S (via IGN). It is a clear $10 jump from the standard $70 of this generation. Further, the Ultimate Edition will cost $20, elevating the price to $99.99. Rockstar has not addressed the reason for the change in pricing, as of this writing. Since there have been no talks about GTA Online, it is expected that the current experience will continue with the launch of GTA 6.

This pricing makes GTA 6 one of the first major video games to carry such a high price tag, with the only other $80 title currently coming from Nintendo. The latter’s Switch 2 launch title is Mario Kart World. Although Microsoft considered hiking up to $80, the company ultimately decided against it.

GTA 6 will be available to preorder at midnight on June 25. Rockstar already revealed the preorder bonuses as well as the details of the Ultimate Edition. The digital preorder will give fans a free month of GTA+. They can also start pre-loading on November 12, a week ahead of its official launch, to ensure that they can play once it’s out (via IGN).

Of the Ultimate Edition, the website says, “Welcome to Leonida, the state where anything goes. Seize everything this massive world has to offer with the GTA 6: Ultimate Edition, an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action around every corner. Ultimate Edition bonuses are threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter.”
