Boulies Master Rex 2026 Gaming Chair Review

The Boulies Master Rex 2026 introduces focused upgrades to an already impressive gaming chair. New 6D armrests, a revised tilt mechanism, and cleaner styling aim to improve its versatility. It might still be a “gaming chair” but it looks quite understated. After two weeks of daily use while working and gaming, here is my review.

Built without fuss

Assembly is standard for a gaming chair and the included instructions are clear. Attaching the integrated leg rest is the only unusual step, but remains quick and easy. It took me around 20 minutes to put the Master Rex 2026 together, though I’d double that time for those new to gaming chair ownership.

Once built, this 2026 variant feels suitably premium. I encountered no looseness, wobbling, creaking, or bolts requiring retightening during testing.

My Charcoal Grey model uses Boulies’ Water Repellent Fabric. It has remained comfortable and breathable in my warm office, making it my clear preference. Ultraflex PU is also available, but I generally avoid leather-like finishes in warm rooms. Whatever your preference, it’s good to have options!

All-day comfort

Comfort was immediate. The broad, rounded-edge seat provided plenty of room, while the integrated lumbar support can be adjusted by height and depth.

The new 6D armrests are the most obvious upgrade. Their generous range made it easy to support my arms while typing, using a mouse, holding a controller, or leaning back.

Boulies has also revised the tilt mechanism. Rocking and reclining felt smooth, controlled, and stable. The backrest can recline from 95 to 165 degrees, with the leg rest sliding out smoothly when it is time to relax.

Time to recline

The leg rest works best after moving away from the desk and leaning back. My desk sits against a wall, so I have to pull the chair out before using it. At 6’7”, I would also need it to extend farther for frequent use.

Boulies recommends the chair for users between 155 and 180 cm, putting me well outside its intended height range. Despite this, I still found it comfortable across full workdays. My wife, at 5’10”, fits it just about perfectly.

When it comes to downsides, the head cushion still attaches using an elastic strap. It works, but a magnetic cushion would feel cleaner and more appropriate at this price. I wasn’t a fan of it on the previous version and I’m not a fan of it now.
