What Are You Playing? May 25th, 2017

We're knee deep into the Spring game drought, but thankfully there were a couple attractive games to play this week. James Kozanitis is currently working on a review for Vanquish on PC, in addition to Everspace. Griffin Vacheron just published his reviews for two Nintendo Switch games, Disgaea 5 Complete and Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers. Cody Perez also pitched in with his review of Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada.

This last weekend I spent 15 hours playing catch-up in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward in anticipation of the story requirements of Stormblood. Little did I know that Square Enix would confirm a day one release of a microtransaction potion that will be capable of boosting a character through all the requirements. So, I won't be playing much until the expansion drops on June 16th—the day after E3, sigh.

Starting on Tuesday I hopped into The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind. I really didn't care for the original release, and I still think that the game has a clunky combat system with very few fun interactions. But there's definitely a solid presence of story, and this expansion is true to the spirit of Morrowind. I'm not loving it, but do find myself occasionally addicted when I come across an interesting quest-line.
