Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Engravings – How to Engrave Armor, Where to Find Them, and More

There’s plenty to do in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, ranging from wielding flaming swords to taming lions. Picking up skills is about as easy as leveling up, but you’re going to end up as a jack of all trades and a master of none if you aren’t careful. The only way to really get the most bang for your drachmae with these fancy abilities is to make sure that your weapons and armor are up to scratch. Luckily for you, our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey engravings tips will show you how to engrave armor and we will have you set up for all your Greco-Roman adventures. We’ll tell you how to engrave, and what you should engrave.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Engravings – The Basics of Engraving Armor

Engraving weapons is a way to give your weapons and armor some extra combat flair. There are a number of different bonuses that you can get, ranging from percentage increases to a particular type of damage done to running faster. In terms of hunting down these pesky little engravings, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey does a pretty good job of throwing them wholesale at you throughout your gameplay experience, though the quality on the engravings that you obtain may vary.

One of the easiest ways to get decent engravings is to go toe to toe with the mercenaries who are out for your blood. There are a couple of these angry blokes who can’t quite stop chasing you around, and dispatching specific ones will reward you with useful loot and occasionally stronger engravings than the ones that you’ll pick up just by puttering around the world doing the main quests.

There are also specific challenges which you can complete to get engravings and nothing else, and they usually involve dispatching some sort of specific enemy. If you’re finding that reading things and looking for clues is more your speed, then you can just as easily get engravings from solving the ainigmata ostrakas riddles. X will mark the spot of a cool new engraving if you’re lucky. We have figured out a few of them for you.

While you may be a Spartan demigod of sorts, your skills lie mostly in stabbing other people with pointy things instead of actually customizing those pointy things. Luckily, your humble small-town blacksmith is more than capable of slapping some neat engravings onto your chosen murder implements. They should be your first port of call when you roll into a new town after being victorious in a skirmish; you’ll be wanting to make sure that you keep up to date with the most powerful engravings possible as you progress through the game.

Blacksmiths will happily engrave your gear at your request. Each blacksmith has access to all the engravings that you’ve unlocked, so it isn’t a case of having to find one particular professional in Athens to get a specific engraving done for a skill. Once you find your chosen blacksmith, they’ll engrave your armor in exchange for crafting materials and drachmae. If you get cold feet about the engraving, then a blacksmith will replace it.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Engravings – What Engravings Should You Use?

There are a couple specific engraving tips to keep in mind when you’re ensuring that everything is in tip-top shape. In general, it’s smart to make sure that you engrave your gear in a way that matches your playstyle. If you’re someone that likes to carry out a lot of assassinations, then it would be a good idea to ensure that you have engravings that increase your assassination damage.

As we said above, it’s also smart to make sure that you’re engraving your gear in accordance with the setup of your skill trees. If you’re someone that’s using certain skills, then you should make sure that your engravings will assist you in doing more damage using that skill. It’s a bit of a continuation from the concept above about making sure that you engrave your gear to match the weapons that you’re using. If you’re using a bow, you’re going to want increased bow damage, which will then directly affect the effectiveness of your bow-related special skills.

You should also be sure to keep your engraving cost-effective. If you’ve got a bunch of gear kicking around in your bag, then you’re better off actually making sure that only the good stuff gets engraved. Generally, you’ll be wanting to engrave Epic gear to get the most bang for your buck because it’ll give you the most perks. The best thing to do would be to make sure that you get Legendary engravings (off Legendary items) to put into high-quality gear.

Now that we’ve given you some advice on how to kick the most butt and to have some flash weapons while doing it, why don’t you try out these tips in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Let us know in the comments section below if any particular build takes your fancy.
