Some AC Odyssey players are reporting that the mercenary system is broken in their game. Apparently, under certain conditions, the mercenary system will break, and mercenaries will no longer spawn no matter how high your bounty is. AC Odyssey Broken Mercenary System Cause and Fix
It’s not known precisely what causes the mercenary system to break in AC Odyssey. One common thread seems to be running from mercenaries that are chasing you. It looks like if you refuse to fight a bounty hunter when they track you down, you run the risk of the whole system just getting stuck. When this happens, bounty hunters will no longer spawn to chase you.
Right now there’s no sure fix to the broken bounty hunter system in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. There are a few things you can try, though. For starters, if you don’t want to be affected by this bug, try not to run away from bounty hunters unless absolutely necessary. This may prevent the glitch from triggering.
You can also try and pay off your current bounty. The hope is that the next time you accrue a price on your head, the system will reset itself and start spawning mercenaries again.
There’s been no word from Ubisoft yet as to when this bug will be addressed. It doesn’t seem to be too widespread at this time, and it looks like it takes a very particular set of circumstances to trigger it. However, for those affected it has to be frustrating to have a whole system in the game non-functional.
