The Fortnite Season 8 auto-run bug has only cropped up since Epic Games patched in the latest update for its battle royale title. Players had been able to run automatically wherever they wanted in-game up until this morning. Since then, however, plenty have headed online to vent their frustration over the ongoing issue.

Threads such as this one on the game’s Reddit page have explained that running in Fortnite feels slow and clunky. The auto-run feature, then, has been broken by something in the Season 8 update.

The problem isn’t unique to just one platform either. PC players, Xbox One owners, and PS4 players have all mentioned that the issue has affected them. Some even tried new controllers to see if that was the problem but, alas, it wasn’t.

At the time of writing, there isn’t a fix for the Fortnite Season 8 auto-run bug. However, the official Fortnite Twitter account provided an update to disgruntled players about their awareness surrounding the error.

The game’s Twitter team revealed that the development team was aware of the auto-run bug, which was hampering some, but not all, players. The team is currently working on a small fix that will be patched into the game soon, and that it would be available as soon as possible.

Once the fix is live, you’ll need to exit your current Fortnite session. Allow the download to be installed, whether automatically or manually, and then fire up the game again. The issue should be resolved, and you’ll be back to running around in no time.
