As you explore the Krypt in Mortal Kombat 11, you’ll come across various key items that you need to progress further. The Spear of Hanzo Hasahi, also know as Scorpion’s Spear, is one of these key items. Players will want to get their hands on this item as quickly as possible. To help you out, we’ve put together this detailed guide which will go over all the steps you need to complete in order to acquire the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi, as well as how to use Scorpion’s Spear in Mortal Kombat 11.
Mortal Kombat 11 Spear of Hanzo Hasahi | How to get Scorpion’s Spear
While the overall journey to get the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi is not long, it can be confusing, especially if you don’t know where you’re going. The Krypt is a puzzling place, and it’s very easy for players to get turned around. The good news is, we’ll walk you through each step one at a time and go over all the items you need to collect as well as any locations that you’ll need to visit to complete this task.
The first step to acquiring the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi is to first acquire the Gem of the Living. To get this item, you will need to explore the Krypt and pass through The Courtyard. To gain access to the area you need to visit, look behind the massive throne-like structure and bash the wall in using Shao Khan’s Hammer. Inside you’ll find a gong that you can ring to open one of the sets of massive wooden doors in The Courtyard.

Head through this area, following the path along the right. This will lead you past a small shrine area and into the Warrior Shrine. You should now see several statue heads along the wall on your right, as well as a massive door at the end of the path. As you approach the door, a small meteorite should land on the path. Hit it with Shao Khan’s Hammer to acquire the Gem of the Living.
Now that you have the Gem of the Living, make your way back through the Crypt to The Courtyard. Once here, look for the hole in the wall that you broke through earlier. You need to enter the same area where you range the gong before. The entrance to this area can be found behind the massive throne-like area in The Courtyard. There are two possible ways to enter this area, though both will require you to use Shao Khan’s hammer to break through a crumbling wall.
Once in the area with the gong, look for the door on the left-hand side of the area. Use the Gem of the Living to gain access to the area beyond. Pass through the doorway to enter the Gardens. This is a new area you can explore in the Krypt. For now, though, beeline through this portion of the island. Pass across the bridge and then head up the stairs to the left. This should take you into the Vault.

The next item you need to collect on your journey to collect the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi is found inside the Vault. Look for a lever on the wall and activate it. This should open a gate. Head inside the gate and you will find the Cracked Horn of Motaro. Pick up the item and then it’s time to return to the Warrior’s Shrine to continue your journey.
After making it back over to the Warrior Shrine, approach the large door and use the Cracked Horn of Motaro. This will open the door and give you access to a path that leads down into Goro’s Lair. Head down into the lair using the elevator. Follow the path through Goro’s Great Hall and into Goro’s Throne Room. Your destination here is a doorway off to the right of the throne. Taking this path will eventually lead you through to The Armory. Here you’ll find the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi wedged into the wall at the back of The Armory. Approach it and pick it up to add it to your inventory.

You’ll get a brief tutorial on how to use the item, as the gate will have slammed down behind you. To exit the room, you’re going to want to use the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi to break the lantern torch over the door. This will cause the door to open, giving you access to the rest of Goro’s Lair once more.
How to use the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi in Mortal Kombat 11
Now that you have Scorpion’s Spear, it’s time to start using it. This item has a few different important uses. For one, you can now use it to pull hanging bodies to you. This will allow you to acquire some Hearts or even Koins from them, which will provide opportunities for you to open up even more chests throughout the Krypt.
The primary use for the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi, though, is to unlock specific doors or even chests. All throughout the Krypt there are various chests with flaming skulls on them. If you approach them, you won’t get any kind of prompt to unlock them. However, if you have the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi, you can look around for various hanging torches. When you use the spear on these torches, the flames on the chests will disappear, allowing you to actually unlock them.
Now that you know how to get the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi as well as how to use the spear throughout the Krypt, make sure you continue exploring and gathering new items and trinkets. There are a ton of great skins and items to be found in the Krypt, so be sure to return to it often when you have enough Koins or Hearts to open up new chests.

Characters You Won't See in Mortal Kombat 11's Roster
Few fighting game franchises introduce as many new challenges as Mortal Kombat. This can be a blessing, but also a curse. You might get an evergreen warrior with your new addition, or you might get a generic reject. Not everyone can make it into MK11, but these guys definitely won't make the cut. -
Bo' Rai Cho
Perhaps a controversial pick due to his many appearances, but Bo' Rai Cho never felt like a genuinely popular character. His unique moves and drunken demeanor make him stand out, but that goofiness also leads to a clash with the rest of the cast. Mortal Kombat works best when it's as straight-faced as possible, and that means you can't have vomit attacks. -
Drahmin
Introduced in Deadly Alliance. This Netherrealm Oni relies heavily on his spiked club for combat. In the days between the original trilogy and the modern games, Mortal Kombat introduced character specific weapons to stand out. So, while Drahmin had a place back then, he'd need a full redesign to fit in now. -
Khameleon
Khameleon has made two weird appearances in the franchise so far. She was a new character in the N64 version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Then, after being left out of the "everyone in the pool" Armageddon, she premiered in the Wii version due to fan outrage. It would be very strange to see her pop up again unless she somehow ends up in the Switch version of the game. And that is pretty unlikely. -
Kira
Premiering in Mortal Kombat Deception, Kira is a recruit for the "new Black Dragon." She's a generically heroic character despite her resemblance to an MK version of Harley Quinn. With the Kombat Kids filling the roles of new heroes, we probably won't be seeing much of Kira going forward. -
Kobra
Kobra is Kira's counterpart in Deception. He's a fiery recruit that's most notable for resembling Ken from Street Fighter. Kobra was briefly mentioned in Mortal Kombat X, but only as someone who Erron Black killed before the events of the game. That probably rules him out as a future entrant in the tournament. -
Mavado
Debuting in Deadly Alliance, Mavado uses Kabal's hook swords and grappling hooks in combat. With both Scorpion and Kabal present in Mortal Kombat 11, it'd be hard to fit such a fighting style in without repetition setting in. Plus, in a game filled with flashy ninjas and otherworldly creatures, Mavado is just a dude. -
Sareena
Despite looking like a human, Sareena is actually a demon, and that's the most notable thing about her. She fights with a pair of knives and her only appearance outside of Armageddon was a Game Boy Advance port of Deadly Alliance and a brief cameo in MKX's campaign. She has some story significance, but she'd basically be a new character if they were to bring her back. -
Taven
Taven is one of two new characters introduced in Armageddon's Konquest mode. Since he only appears in Armageddon, he's also one of only two characters who's never had a fatality. There may be some hardcore Konquest fans out there, but considering that his greatest deeds are written out of the current timeline, he's probably not popping up again. -
Tremor
We will admit, Tremor is pretty cool. He's a ninja who controls rocks, making his debut in PlayStation action game Special Forces. His first appearance in the fighting series was as a DLC character in Mortal Kombat X. He might be the most likely candidate for a revival out of these 10, but NetherRealm's ninja quota is probably already spent for 11.
