Black Ops 4 1.17 Update Patch Notes | Operation Spectre Patch Notes

A brand-new Call of Duty Black Ops 4 update is set to go live later today, April 30. And boy, is it a big one. The Black Ops 4 1.17 update contains a whole lot of new content. The Operation Spectre Rising update is a big deal for any long-time and new Black Ops 4 players. Read on for the full Black Ops 4 1.17 update patch notes. Be prepared, though, as there is a lot of new content included here.

Black Ops 4 1.17 Update| What’s in the Operation Spectre update?

Black Ops 4 1.17 Update Patch Notes

The Operation Spectre Rising update in Black Ops 4 is promising a lot of new content, not only the latest in-game event with Tiers to rise through, either. We’ve got a new Specialist, maps, a Blackout map update, Black Market items, Blackout and Multiplayer modes, and more. Where to begin?

New Specialist

A brand-new Specialist will be available to unlock after you download the 1.17 update for Black Ops 4. Spectre is back and comes equipped with smoke grenades and a sword. That’s right, a sword is on the way to Black Ops 4. The Shadow Blade will be a powerful close-quarters special weapon. When using the Shadow Blade, the game will switch to a third-person view. Time to slice and dice.

You will unlock Spectre at Tier One of the Operation Spectre Rising event. You can play as Spectre in both Multiplayer and Blackout.

New Maps

Owners of the Black Ops Pass will have access to three new Multiplayer maps. These are as follows:

  • Artifact
  • Masquerade
  • WMD (returning from Black Ops 1)

New maps are always a bonus, whether they are returning or not. It’s good to spice things up. Hacienda Twilight alternative map will also help add a bit of visual flair to proceedings.

Multiplayer Updates

Alongside a new Specialist and three new maps, Black Ops 4 Multiplayer is being improved thanks to new modes. Returning from WW2 is Prop Hunt. In Prop Hunt, there are two teams. One plays as normal characters, but they are on a hunt for the other team, all of whom are playing as Props. If you are on the Prop team, you will choose a Prop to play as (could be a basket, lamp, vehicle, wheel, etc…). It’s up to you to try to blend in and avoid being spotted by the opposition team.

At long last, Capture the Flag is coming to Black Ops 4. This will become available later on during Operation Spectre Rising. The Nifo’Oti melee club and Tigershark LMG are on the way to Multiplayer, too, as part of the Contraband Stream.

New Blackout Updates

Blackout is receiving some big update thanks to the Black Ops 4 1.17 update. Black Ops Pass owners will be able to play as Uncle Frank, Sgt. Frank Woods from Black Ops 2. The Black Market will offer a few more Blackout characters to play as, too. These are as follows:

  • Blackjack
  • David Mason
  • Misty
  • Sarah Hall
  • Sergei

On top of all the new Blackout characters, the map is also receiving a large update: Wetworks. This will flood several areas of the map following the busting of the Hydro Dam.

A new Blackout mode will be live during the Operation, too: Bounty Hunter. You will be able to find and equip the Shadow Blade to turn into Spectre (beacons will light the way). Once you are Spectre, you will move faster, see digital footprints, and be able to play in a third-person view (when using the Shadow Blade).

Each collapse will show Spectre the players with the most kills. If you kill them or survive the Bounty Attack, you will earn a Supply Drop at your current position. Humiliations are included in Bounty Hunter, too. You will be able to use these finishing moves on downed opponents.

Ground War is on the way to Blackout, as well. This will be a large-scale 50 vs 50 battle on the Blackout map, with respawns and everything. If that wasn’t enough, the new update also brings Down But Not Out and Hot Pursuit back to Blackout. Once Operation Spectre Rising has been going on for a while, too, new weapons, a new vehicle, and equipment will all be added into Blackout. Alcatraz has also been updated and improved.

Zombies

A brand-new Gauntlet is a part of the latest Black Ops 4 update. Super Blood Wolf Moon will be a part of Dead of the Night. You’ll be fighting against Wolves here, folks. More Gauntlets are on the way, too, for Ancient Evil and Voyage of Despair. New weapons and features are being added, too, such as Gauntlet Friend Leaderboards.

On top of everything else, the Black Ops 4 1.17 update will also feature plenty of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes.
