There’s some confusion over whether there will be Marvel’s Avengers crossplay support. Fans of the upcoming Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix game want to know if they can play with friends across PC, PS4, and Xbox One. To get an answer to this cross-platform question, you’ll have to read our Marvel’s Avengers crossplay guide.
Is Marvel’s Avengers crossplay supported?
Unfortunately, the main answer we have about Marvel’s Avengers crossplay support right now is we simply don’t know. The title is still around 11 months away from its launch date, and Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics haven’t declared if cross-platform play will be a feature yet.
Throughout their E3 2019 interviews, both companies have declined to comment on whether you can play alongside friends who are on different platforms to you. That means that, if you play on PC and your friend plays on PS4 or Xbox One, you won’t know if you can band together as the Avengers at the moment.
We can speculate on the possibility of this feature though. More and more companies are offering crossplay support in their games. Additionally, Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo have all allowed cross-platform play to occur on their platforms over the past couple of years.
You only have to look at the success of titles like Rocket League to see that crossplay works. Opening cross-platform support to players means that you aren’t forcing people to buy every console just to play a game or two with their mates too.
It should stand to reason, then, that there will be Marvel’s Avengers crossplay support when the game comes out. It would be a strange move from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics if they didn’t. The game is set up for cross-platform functionality, so we expect it to be there on day one. If it isn’t, we’ll be very surprised.
