Dragon Quest Builders 2 Autosave and Manual Save How saving works in DQB2

Dragon Quest Builders 2 Autosave and Manual Save | How saving works in DQB2

Dragon Quest Builders 2 has autosave, but it’s not quite as reliable as most games with that feature. You’ll need to know how to manual save, and know when autosave has your back to ensure you don’t lose any progress. Fortunately, the Dragon Quest Builders 2 save system is pretty forgiving as long as you remember to use it properly.

Does Dragon Quest Builders 2 have autosave?

Dragon Quest Builders 2 Autosave and Manual Save

Like most modern games, Dragon Quest Builders 2 has an autosave. However, it’s not one you can depend on too heavily. The game can go several hours without triggering an autosave, and so, you can’t rely on it too much. Luckily, DQB2 isn’t very punishing. When you die, you respawn in the main settlement of whatever island you’re on, and you don’t lose any items, experience, or progress.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 also has a second type of autosave. The game will save when you use the ship to travel between islands. However, this save doesn’t go to your autosave slot. Instead, it deletes your autosave and overwrites your manual save slot. This isn’t too inconvenient, but if you’ve accidentally used some resources you didn’t want to, it can be frustrating not to be able to have any save to reload from.

Can you do a manual save in Dragon Quest Builders 2?

The most reliable way to save your progress in Dragon Quest Builders 2 is to perform a manual save. You can do this by pressing the Options button and selecting “save” from the menu. The game will prompt you to confirm overwriting your old save and you’re good to go. You can save manually no matter where you are in the game, so you never have to worry about being in a convenient location.

Since there’s no significant penalty for dying in DQB2, I usually just rely on manually saving and don’t pay much attention to the autosave system. When I’m about to quit, I perform a manual save, and that’s served me well.
